2010 Nationals USA NKF

We will be recording the Nationals trip for all of you to follow at home. 

Each night a journal entry will be recorded of the daily events. 

 

Tuesday, July 6th-- Team Begins to Arrive.  Checking in at the registration desk, receiving their credentials, and weighing in for Team Trial Divisions.  Kelsey and Joey Made the weight they were striving for.  

 

Wednesday, July 7th-- Team continues to arrive during the day.  Shihan, Charlie and Nick sit through the 8 hour coaches clinic.  Charlie and Forest receive coaches certification and Nick and Shihan maintain their certification from last year.  Team trains for an hour, then attends the team dinner.  After dinner Team Intense decorates their car windows in preparation for tomorrow's competition.  Kelsey, Amber, Connor and Joey compete in Team Trial Kata, while the rest of the team competes in Kobudo (weapons). 

 

Thursday, July 8th -- Team Intense arrives at the Bi-Lo Center to compete in Weapons and Team Trial Kata.  TEAM INTENSE took home 16 medals in the weapons divisions and 1 medal in the team trial divisions, earning Kelsey the alternate spot on Team USA.  A very successful day for the team. 

 

Friday, July 9th-- Great Kata Day!  10 medals on Friday.  6 gold, 1 Silver, and 3 Bronze.  This brings our running total to 27 medals.  14 Gold, 6 silver, and 7 Bronze. 

 

Saturday, July 10th-- Another great team intense day.  Kumite was on the menu for today and Team Intense stepped up to compete.  11 Medals in individual kumite and Gage teamed up with 2 boys from Northern Virginia and Hampton to earn a bronze medal for TEAM VA.  Today's medals bring us up to a total of 39 medals at the National Championships.  39 medals with 17 Athletes.  17 Gold, 10 Silver, and 12 Bronze. 

 

Sunday, July 11th-- Charlie, Dave and Shihan take silver in kumite.  Kelsey earns a silver medal in Elite Kumite, earning her a spot on the USA Team that will compete in the PAN AMERICAN Games in Montreal Canada.  Amber wins a Bronze medal in Elite Kumite, earning her the alternate spot on TEAM USA.  Bringing our total to 44 Medals-- 17 Gold, 14 Silver, and 13 Bronze Medals--- with 17 athletes competing.
