LM Karate Academy prides itself on
the producing good quality Black Belt instructors to continue the
training process. A great thanks is owed to these individuals for their
dedication, commitment and hard work.
Sensei George Nemeth
Sensei Nemeth holds a Sandan in Shotokan Karate.
He has been training at the LM Karate
Academy since 1996. Practical Self Defense
and Street Safety are his areas of expertise. He
brings a great deal of knowledge to the self defense classes. Sensei George is a Nationally Certified Coach,
as well as ASEP (American Sports Education Program) Certified and a USA/NKF Nationally Certified Judge. Sensei
George is married with 2 kids.
Sensei Joey Kubistek
Sensei
“Joey” started his Martial Arts training at LM Karate Academy in 2000
and holds a Nidan in Shotokan Karate. He is an
incredible young man with an intense work ethic, attitude and joy for
teaching. He is a
2006 National Champion and a national medal winner numerous times over. He has a great knack for
transferring his knowledge to the
younger students, and an incredible eye for detail. He is A.S.E.P
certified and a certified National Karate Coach. Sensei Joey is a college
student studying Business Administration.

Coach Robert Maloney, DPT
Mr. Maloney has been a physical therapist
specializing in orthopedics for over 10 years. While attending Slippery
Rock University, Rob competed in the decathlon and this is where he began
studying the concepts of periodization and strength training techniques.
Since graduating with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy, he has been
certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as
a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) working with high
school to professional athletes in a multitude of sports. Mr. Maloney
worked with these athletes on peak performance through periodization,
muscle fiber recruitment strategies, endurance training, core
strengthening, and nutrition counseling. Mr. Maloney also used this
knowledge to educate other physical therapists and athletic trainers
nationally producing and teaching continuing education classes. Rob is
originally from Pittsburgh and married with 3 boys. Coach Maloney
works with Team Intense on conditioning training.
Assistant Instructors (Sempai)
One of the cornerstones of the LM
Karate academy is it's instructor development program. We firmly
believe that good teaching breeds great teaching. We must constantly
try to train our students to be better than we are. That is the
foundation and thought process of or instructor training program.
Sempai Kelsey
Silverman
Sempai Kelsey is a dynamic person. She is a
member of the 2009 USA NKF National Team and competed in El
Salvador in the Pan American Games, placing fourth. She
was a member of the 2008 AAU Jr. National Team that competed in Japan
for the Goodwill games International Championships. She
has 13 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 5 bronze medals in National
Competition in just 5 years. Kelsey
has dominated the State and Regional competition scene for the last 7
years. Kelsey has been training with Team Intense since she was three
years old. She is on the Principal's list (all A's) at Fluvanna
Middle School.
Sempai
Amber Lyon
Sempai Amber has been with the LM
Karate Academy since she was 7 years old.
She is a member of the 2009 USA NKF National Team and competed in El Salvador in the Pan American Games,
placing fourth.
Her
dedication to her karate, competitions, the students, and the dojo go
unmatched. Amber has won a National
Championship numerous times, and a medal winner many times over. She continues to train at
an elite level with hopes to one day
compete in the Olympics. Amber is in the Governor's school
at Fluvanna County High School. We look for big
things from Sempai Amber.
Sempai Connor Ricks
Sempai Conner has been training at
LM Karate since the age of 6. He is a hard working
student with incredible discipline and focus. He is an
excellent competitor and truly enjoys
working with the kids. He is an national
competitor with a keen eye for detail. He
is a State, Regional, and National Champion. Connor
has a strong karate future in front of him. His latest accomplishment is
winning the 2009 USA NKF Kobudo Gold Medal. Connor is a high school
student at Covenant School in Charlottesville Virginia.
Sempai
Charity Newman
Charity has the knack for working with kids.
She understands the growth and development process of children and can
relate to their needs. She is a vital piece of the LM Karate
Academy. She is a National Champion in Kata and Kobudo.
Charity is a high school senior at Louisa County High School, where she
maintains straight A's. Charity plans on attending college upon
graduation. She wants to pursue a degree in education and english.
