Location
The dojo is located close to the Lake Monticello community in Fluvanna
County, Virginia. We are open five days a week between the hours of
4.30pm and 8.30pm, except on Public Holidays. We welcome new students
of all levels.
Dojo
We teach traditional Shotokan Karate to both children and adults at our dojo in
Fluvanna County. Our students learn the Japanese art in
its purest form. They are taught the self-defense, Kata, and Kumite
skills needed to successfully progress in this strict style of karate.
Our Chief Instructor is Shihan Silverman. He began his Martial Arts
career at the age of four and over the years, while working towards his
black belt, has competed in and won many State and National karate
tournaments. He has also been an active member of the New York State
Demonstrating Team, and a member of the American Federation of Martial
Arts.
After receiving his Fifth degree black belt in Shotokan Karate, Shihan
Silverman went on to pursue ranking in the arts of Chinese and Japanese
Goju, as well as American Judo. He is a former Kid Glove Champion and
Golden Glove Finalist in Western Boxing, and fought as a member of the
AAU Region 2 National Fighting Team. For More on our instructors, check
